The company

Goat Funded Trader (GFT) launched in May 2023 and describes its headquarters as Hong Kong. It is not a broker: evaluation and funded accounts use virtual funds in a simulated environment, while a partner proprietary trading firm may copy selected strategies at its discretion. GFT says its technology was built in-house and is also used by more than 40 other firms.

The company reports almost 100,000 traders and nearly $8 million paid in rewards. Those are company-published figures rather than independently audited metrics, but they give useful context on its operating history. The maximum combined simulated funded allocation is $400,000 per trader.

Accounts are issued immediately after purchase or after an intermediate phase. Passing the final evaluation triggers a review that normally takes up to two business days. KYC is not required to receive funded credentials; identity verification and the Trader Agreement are deferred until the first payout request.

Evaluation models

Step-based routes

The active range combines four conventional evaluations with GOAT BLITZ:

  • 1 Step is the shortest standard route. Its maximum loss remains static, but the daily limit for accounts bought from August 1, 2026 is tighter than for older accounts. Funded accounts bought after July 27 require four valid days per payout.
  • 2 Step Standard uses the more conventional higher first target and wider daily allowance. 2 Step GOAT lowers the first target but uses a tighter daily loss limit and a higher second target. Purchases from July 25 require four valid funded days per payout.
  • 3 Step divides the objective across three phases and has no minimum-day requirement during evaluation. It trades speed for smaller targets at each stage; the funded account follows the same four-valid-day rule as newer 1 Step accounts.
  • GOAT BLITZ is offered during selected weekends rather than continuously. Its low single-phase target comes with a trailing overall loss limit, a floating-loss rule, five valid evaluation days and a funded consistency test. It is the most restrictive evaluation for traders whose equity swings sharply.

GFT also documents 2-Step PRO for existing customers but states that it stopped selling that model on June 13, 2026. Goat $1, Pay Later and Instant Standard also remain in the help centre, but they are not part of the current product catalogue used on this review.

Instant funding

Four current products remove the evaluation phase, but their risk mechanics are materially different:

  • Instant GOAT has trailing daily and overall limits, a 2% floating-loss ceiling and a 15% consistency requirement.
  • Instant PRO has no daily drawdown. Its tighter overall trailing limit, 2% floating-loss ceiling and 20% consistency rule make control of open exposure more important than a daily reset.
  • Instant Premium uses daily drawdown plus an intraday trailing maximum loss that resets after a payout. Accounts purchased from September 2, 2026 have a 1% floating-loss limit instead of the previous 1.5%, but no consistency rule.
  • Instant HERO uses trailing daily and overall limits, a 1% floating-loss ceiling and 15% consistency. It requires six valid days and starts with a 90% split, while the other instant routes generally require five valid days.

A valid day means at least 0.5% profit on the initial balance. The count resets after each payout, and the trading day runs from 5 PM to 5 PM EST. Instant accounts cannot be merged.

Drawdown and risk management

Static and trailing mechanisms

The standard 1-, 2- and 3-step evaluations use a static maximum-loss floor based on starting balance. Their daily threshold is recalculated at 5 PM EST from the higher of balance or equity, minus the plan's daily allowance. Open profit at reset can therefore raise the next day's floor; falling below it with balance or equity is a hard breach.

GOAT BLITZ and the instant products use trailing rules. Their floors move upward when the relevant high-water mark increases and do not move back down after losses. Several instant models reset their overall trailing limit after a payout, so a withdrawal changes the available buffer. Instant Premium is intraday trailing, not an end-of-day high-water mark.

The applicable model article should be checked before purchase because “trailing” is not one uniform calculation across GFT. HERO, GOAT, PRO and Premium differ on whether they track balance, equity, daily limits and when the floor resets.

Goat Guard and discretionary limits

Goat Guard applies to funded evaluation accounts, not instant funding. It triggers when combined floating loss reaches 2% of the initial account size. On the first trigger, positions remain open and the account remains active, but the profit split falls to 50%. A second trigger breaches and closes the account. The trigger uses snapshots: closing a position or opening a new one creates a new group capable of producing the second trigger.

GFT may also impose an individual risk limit after observing excessive exposure, such as a maximum 1% risk per trade idea. Ignoring a notified limit causes an immediate breach. Separately, using more than 80% of available margin on one idea is treated as all-or-nothing trading and can lead to profit deductions or a phase reset.

Trading rules and restrictions

Allowed activity and profit adjustments

Weekend holding is allowed, and neither stop loss nor take profit is mandatory. News trading is also allowed, but trades opened or closed within five minutes before or after a high-impact release may contribute no more than 1% of initial balance in profit. Excess profit is removed without breaching the account.

A separate help article says a “Swing” challenge has unrestricted news trading, but that model does not appear in the current catalogue. Buyers should therefore apply the general five-minute rule to the listed products unless support confirms otherwise for the exact account.

On funded accounts, profit from a trade held for less than 120 seconds is removed at payout, while any loss remains. The rule does not apply during evaluation and is an adjustment rather than a breach. A similar funded-only adjustment applies to weekend-gap trades opened in Friday's final three market hours and closed in Monday's first three hours.

EAs are allowed only when the strategy is the trader's own and complies with the rules. HFT, Gold Arbitrage EAs, third-party or mass-market assessment EAs, signal services and copied strategies are prohibited. GFT may request an EA's source code. Copying between funded accounts is allowed, but copying between evaluations, or between an evaluation and a funded account, is not.

Conduct, access and account lifecycle

Hedging is prohibited within one account, across the trader's accounts, across different users and against an external prop firm. Cross-firm hedging can cause immediate breach, loss of reward eligibility and a permanent ban. Martingale, grid recovery, latency or platform exploitation, front-running, insider information and trading without a coherent strategy are also prohibited.

Only the owner may operate an account. One person may register once but can buy multiple challenges. Shared devices are prohibited; detection can remove payout eligibility and terminate the account. VPNs are allowed subject to location checks; travel or material IP changes can prompt requests for tickets, passport stamps or video verification. For accounts bought from August 12, 2026, VPS use is prohibited on One Step, Two Step and Instant Premium, but remains allowed on Instant GOAT and Instant HERO. GFT's article also lists Pay Later under the restriction.

Thirty consecutive days without a trade closes both evaluation and funded accounts with no reinstatement. There are no swap-free accounts, so overnight positions incur swaps. Eligible funded evaluation accounts can be merged only before trading, with matching model, split and add-ons, up to the $400,000 allocation; instant accounts cannot be merged.

Accounts bought from June 15 onward can generally purchase one reset per phase within 14 days of a breach. A reset creates a new account at the breached phase rather than restoring the old one. Later-phase and funded resets can cost more than a new Phase 1 attempt; Pay Later, promotional, giveaway and GOAT Points accounts are excluded.

Payouts

Eligibility and timing

Most current models use a 14-day cycle. The first on-demand reward is an optional add-on for evaluation routes and BLITZ: it requires at least 3% profit across three valid days, pays only a 40% split even if the 100% add-on was bought, and then returns to the normal schedule and split. Consistency rules do not breach an account; they block the payout until the best day falls below the model's percentage of total period profit.

Requests are submitted in the dashboard with no open trades or pending orders. The minimum is $100, partial withdrawals are not available, and only one request may be pending per account. The first request also requires KYC and an electronic Trader Agreement. The two-business-day processing clock begins after verification, not when an incomplete request is opened.

GFT promises a $1,000 addition if it misses that processing window, excluding delays caused by incomplete KYC or requests for more information. This replaces the $500 guarantee described in the previous review.

Deductions, caps and payment routes

All rewards carry a 3% processing fee after profit split and deductions. Funded profit is capped at $3,000 per trading day; excess is removed rather than carried forward. The first two payouts are capped at the lower of 6% of initial balance or $10,000. For $5,000 Standard and GOAT two-step accounts bought from July 25, 2026, the cap is 4%. Extra profit above those early caps is deducted, and the restriction disappears after the second reward.

Payouts are available through Rise, crypto, Skrill and bank transfer. Rise has no stated ceiling; each bank request is capped at $10,000, Skrill at $5,000 and crypto at $4,000. Bank transfer is limited to Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Tanzania, Cameroon and Ghana. The selected method locks when the request is sent, except when failed Rise verification requires a Veriff-based alternative. The account name, identity document and payment account should match.

Purchases are final and cannot normally be refunded. Separately, GFT describes the paid evaluation fee as reimbursable after the fourth successful payout, including instant and Pay Later accounts. This is an earned reimbursement, not a cancellation right.

Platforms, assets and limitations

GFT offers cTrader, TradeLocker, MatchTrader, Volumetrica and MT5. MT5 and cTrader are unavailable to US clients, while the other three platforms remain available there. One platform change can be requested before any trade is placed.

Available CFDs cover forex, indices, metals, commodities, stocks and cryptocurrencies. Evaluation leverage is highest on forex and is reduced on funded accounts; crypto stays at 1:2 and stocks at 1:5. MT5, MatchTrader and TradeLocker charge no lot commission on crypto, indices, commodities or stocks, while forex and metals use a $5 commission with raw spreads.

GFT also uses TradingView charting for quotes and analysis, and provides an iOS and Android dashboard app. The app uses the same account login; app-related GOAT Points tasks may require manual screenshot verification.

The current restriction list names Afghanistan, Belarus, Central African Republic, Chile, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Hong Kong, Iran, Israel, Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant and Al-Qaida, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, Somalia, South Korea, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Togo, Venezuela, Yemen and Zimbabwe. The help centre therefore describes Hong Kong as the firm's headquarters while also excluding Hong Kong residents; corporate location does not imply local customer eligibility. Location also affects platform and bank-transfer availability.

GOAT Points and scaling

Every user is automatically enrolled in GOAT Points. Purchases earn one point per dollar and trading tasks can add more. Dashboard rewards can include accounts, extra leverage, additional drawdown and account-size boosts; points have no published earning cap.

The scaling plan has four milestones based on both funded tenure and successful payouts. It starts after two months and four payouts with a 15% capital increase, 90% split and wider loss limits. Later levels add weekly payouts, higher splits and capital, then a free replacement challenge and a monthly payment of $300 for original sizes from $5,000 to $50,000 or $500 for $100,000 to $200,000. The top published milestone requires six months and 15 payouts and raises capital by 50% and the split to 95%. Scaling is calculated from original account size, not a later merged balance.

Summary: who this firm suits

GFT provides unusually broad choice, but the names alone do not reveal the risk model. It best suits a trader willing to select around drawdown mechanics, valid-day requirements and payout consistency rather than simply the lowest target.

The strongest practical features are the range of platforms, several evaluation and instant routes, resets that preserve completed phases, and a defined two-business-day payout commitment. The main constraints are the 3% payout fee, early withdrawal and daily-profit caps, the funded 120-second adjustment, strict anti-hedging and account-access rules, and trailing limits that reset differently by product.

Before purchase, the trader should confirm the rule version attached to the purchase date, whether a VPS and chosen platform are allowed, and how the selected model treats floating equity. Conservative traders may prefer static evaluation routes. Traders seeking immediate access must be comfortable with tighter floating-loss and consistency controls. Scalpers, signal followers, martingale users and anyone who shares devices or account access are a poor fit.
