Where you trade
The platform is the trader's primary tool, and here the difference is significant. FTMO provides one of the most versatile setups in the industry, offering Metatrader 4, Metatrader 5, cTrader, DXTrade, and TradingView. This allows traders to use everything from advanced algorithmic coding to the most popular charting interfaces.
TTT Markets takes a more streamlined approach, focusing on MT5 and their proprietary TTT WebTrader. While MT5 is a powerful modern standard, the lack of cTrader or native TradingView integration may limit traders who rely on specific platform-dependent tools or indicators.
Who executes your orders
Execution quality depends on the bridge between the firm and the markets. FTMO operates as its own Liquidity Provider, which allows them to simulate institutional conditions with a focus on low spreads and reliable execution across their platforms.
TTT Markets utilizes TTT Markets Ltd, providing simulated prop trading accounts through a separate brokerage service. It is important to note that their MT5 platform is unavailable to residents or citizens of the US, Iran, or North Korea, whereas FTMO has its own extensive list of restricted countries (including India, Russia, and Venezuela).
Leverage and margin
Risk management is dictated by how much room the firm gives you to breathe.
- FTMO: Offers 100:1 leverage on Forex for Standard accounts and 30:1 for Swing accounts. Their margin call level is set at 100%, meaning positions are liquidated when equity equals the required margin.
- TTT Markets: Provides up to 1:100 for Evaluations and Subscriptions, and 1:50 for Instant Standard accounts. A critical technical rule here is the Maximum Risk Limit: used margin must remain below 80% of current equity. This is a stricter constraint than FTMO, as floating losses can quickly push a trader toward this limit.
Drawdown structures also differ: FTMO uses equity-based daily drawdown, while TTT Markets applies trailing equity drawdown specifically for its 1-Step Standard and Pro models, which is generally considered more difficult to manage than the static drawdown found in FTMO's 2-Step accounts.
Markets available
The range of instruments defines your strategy's reach.
- FTMO: Offers a comprehensive suite including Forex, Indices, Commodities, Crypto, and Stocks.
- TTT Markets: Provides access to Forex, Indices, Commodities, and Crypto.
The primary difference is the availability of Stocks, which are absent from the TTT Markets offering, making FTMO the only choice for equity-focused day traders.
What the setup lets you do
Both firms allow EAs and Scalping, but the fine print varies. FTMO is highly flexible, especially on Swing accounts where there are no restrictions on news trading or weekend holding. On Standard accounts, news trading is restricted within a 4-minute window.
TTT Markets has more complex restrictions. EAs are prohibited on 1-Step Lite and Pro accounts. Furthermore, for 1-Step Standard and Lite, there is a consistency rule regarding lot sizes (between 25% and 200% of the average) and a maximum of 2 simultaneous positions. Weekend holding is only available on certain accounts or requires a +25% price add-on.
What the setup costs
Costs are split between entry fees and execution friction.
- FTMO: A $50,000 2-Step challenge costs €345 (refundable). Forex commissions are fixed at $5 per lot. They offer a high 90% profit split from the start.
- TTT Markets: A $50,000 2-Step Standard costs $299 (non-refundable). Their profit split is more tiered: starting at 70% for the first payout and moving to 80%. Their Subscription model starts at 70% and can scale up to 90% over time. TTT Markets does not offer the same fee refund policy as FTMO.
Better setup for
- FTMO is the better setup for professional and swing traders who require a wide choice of platforms (cTrader/TradingView), stock trading, and a straightforward 90% profit split with refundable fees.
- TTT Markets is the better setup for diversified traders looking for low-cost entry points (via Lite or Subscription models) and those who prefer the MT5 environment without the need for a refund policy.
