Corporate and Operational Profile
SFX Funded is a proprietary trading firm based in the United Arab Emirates, specifically operating out of the Dubai Digital Park. Established in 2024, the firm operates under the legal entity SFX International FZCO. It positions itself in the market by offering a variety of evaluation models ranging from traditional two-step assessments to instant funding options, catering to different risk profiles and trading styles.
A significant operational detail is that the firm utilizes an in-house liquidity provider, meaning it does not rely on external retail brokers. This provides the firm with direct control over the trading environment but also places the responsibility of execution quality and price feed integrity entirely on their internal systems.
Analysis of Trading Platforms and Technical Specifications
The firm provides access to two primary trading platforms: MatchTrader and MetaTrader 5 (MT5). This allows traders to choose between the widely established MT5 ecosystem and the more modern, web-centric MatchTrader interface.
Asset Classes and Leverage
The leverage offered is tiered based on the asset class, reflecting a conservative approach to risk management:
- Forex: 1:30 leverage.
- Metals, Indices, and Energies: 1:10 leverage.
- Cryptocurrencies: 1:2 leverage.
These levels are notably lower than many other firms in the industry, which typically offer 1:100. For the trader, this means that position sizing is more constrained, requiring more capital allocation per trade and making it more difficult to over-leverage a small account.
Commission Structure
The firm applies a commission-based model across most assets:
- Forex, Metals, and Energies: $4 per lot.
- Indices: $0.4 per lot.
- Cryptocurrencies: Commission-free.
This cost structure is competitive for Forex but requires traders to account for these fixed costs when calculating their break-even points, especially for high-frequency strategies.
Evaluation Programs and Account Structures
SFX Funded offers four distinct programs, each with a specific logic regarding risk and reward.
2-Step Ascend (Standard Evaluation)
This is the most traditional model. It focuses on long-term consistency.
- Profit Targets: 8% in Phase 1 and 5% in Phase 2.
- Drawdown: 4% daily limit and an 8% static maximum drawdown.
- Implications: The static drawdown is a major advantage for traders. Unlike trailing drawdowns, the 8% limit is fixed relative to the initial balance, allowing traders to use their earned profits as a buffer without the floor moving upward.
1-Step Pro (High Target, No Daily Limit)
This program is designed for traders who dislike daily loss restrictions.
- Profit Target: 9%.
- Drawdown: 6% trailing maximum drawdown.
- Unique Constraint: It has no daily loss limit. However, it is governed by a 1% maximum floating loss rule.
- Analysis: While there is no hard daily stop, the 1% floating loss rule acts as a very tight leash. If a trader's open positions lose 1% of the account value at any moment, they face a violation. This effectively forces a very high level of intraday precision.
Rapid Challenge (Low Target, Tight Risk)
- Profit Target: 3%.
- Drawdown: 3% daily and 4% trailing maximum drawdown.
- Logic: The very low profit target makes passing the evaluation statistically easier, but the 4% trailing drawdown provides almost no room for error. A single string of losses can quickly breach the account.
Instant Funding
- Profit Target: None for the initial phase (direct funding).
- Drawdown: 3% daily and 6% trailing maximum drawdown.
- Requirement: To receive a payout, the trader must achieve at least 4% profit and meet the consistency requirements.
The SFX Stability Index (SSI) and Consistency Rules
The most critical aspect of SFX Funded's policy is the SFX Stability Index (SSI). This is a consistency rule designed to prevent "gambling" or "all-in" strategies where a single trade accounts for the majority of the profit.
SSI Thresholds
- Rapid and Instant: 15% SSI.
- 1-Step Pro: 20% SSI.
- Ascend: 25% SSI.
Practical Impact
If a trader has a 25% SSI limit, no single trade can contribute more than 25% of the total profit required for a payout. If a trade exceeds this, the excess profit is usually ignored for the payout calculation or the payout is delayed until more trades are made to "balance" the index. This forces the trader to have a distributed performance across many trades rather than relying on one lucky break during high volatility.
Risk Management Restrictions and Prohibited Strategies
The firm maintains a strict list of prohibited behaviors to protect its capital from toxic flow and arbitrage.
Floating Loss Limits
A distinctive rule in SFX Funded is the Maximum Floating Loss Limit.
- In most accounts (Rapid, Ascend, Instant), this is set at 2%.
- In 1-Step Pro and high-balance Instant accounts ($300k-$400k), it is set at 1%.
- Violation Consequence: For 1-Step Pro, the first violation results in a warning and a reduction of the profit split to 40%. A second violation results in account closure. This rule targets traders who "hope" for a reversal instead of cutting losses.
News Trading Restrictions
On funded accounts, trading is restricted from 2 minutes before to 2 minutes after high-impact news releases. This includes:
- Opening new trades.
- Closing existing trades.
- Executing pending orders. Violating this rule can lead to the deduction of profits generated from those trades or account termination.
Strategy Prohibitions
The following are strictly forbidden:
- Martingale and Grid Trading: These are viewed as high-risk capital-depletion strategies.
- Copy Trading: You cannot copy from external sources, signal providers, or even between your own accounts.
- HFT and Latency Arbitrage: Any attempt to exploit the simulated environment's feed speed is prohibited.
- Third-party EAs: Only EAs developed by the trader themselves or basic trading assistants (calculators) are permitted.
Payout and Withdrawal Policies
The firm offers a base 85% profit split, which is on the higher end of the industry standard.
Payout Frequency and Early Access
- Standard Cycle: Depends on the program, often requiring 10 trading days and meeting the SSI requirements.
- Early Payout: Available for Rapid and Ascend accounts. Traders can request a payout after only 3 days, but the split is reduced to 40%. This is a liquidity option for traders who need cash immediately but are willing to sacrifice 45% of their earnings for it.
- Limits: The first two payouts are capped at $10,000 per request. This limit is removed starting from the third payout.
Payout Guarantee and Methods
SFX Funded offers a $1,000 compensation guarantee if payout requests are not processed within 48 business hours. Payments are made via Bank Transfer or Crypto (USDT TRC20). For amounts under $100, only USDT is available.
Refund Policy
The evaluation fee is refundable, but the conditions are stricter than elsewhere. The refund is only issued alongside the fifth successful payout. This encourages long-term retention rather than "pass and burn" behavior.
Account Management and Scaling
Account Merging
Traders can merge funded accounts of the same type if they are at their initial balance and have no open trades. The maximum combined capital allowed is $500,000. Instant accounts are excluded from merging.
Scaling Plan
Accounts are reviewed every 3 months. To qualify:
- The trader must be profitable in 2 out of the 3 months.
- Achieve at least 10% cumulative profit.
- Have processed at least 2 payouts. If met, the balance increases by 25% of the initial balance, with a ceiling of $3.2 million. The profit split can eventually reach 100% through this program.
Key Considerations and Summary
Trader Profile Suitability
- Ideal for: Disciplined intraday and swing traders who value high profit splits and static drawdown (in the Ascend model). It suits those who have their own developed EAs or trade manually with strict risk management.
- Not suitable for: News traders, Martingale/Grid users, or traders who rely on "one big trade" to hit targets (due to the SSI rule). The low leverage (1:30) also makes it difficult for those used to high-exposure strategies.
Highlights
- Static Drawdown on the Ascend program provides a fair environment for swing traders.
- 85% Profit Split is standard and can scale to 100%.
- Early Payout option (3 days) provides flexibility, albeit at a high cost.
- $1,000 Payout Delay Compensation shows a commitment to operational efficiency.
Limitations
- SSI Consistency Rule: The 15-25% cap on trade contribution is a significant hurdle that requires very consistent performance.
- Floating Loss Rule: The 1% or 2% floating loss limit acts as a "hidden" drawdown rule that can be easily triggered during volatility.
- Low Leverage: 1:30 is restrictive compared to the industry average of 1:100.
- Refund Policy: Requiring five payouts to get the initial fee back is significantly more demanding than the common "first payout" refund policy.
- Trustpilot Status: The documentation mentions that the firm's Trustpilot is blocked, which is a factor for traders to consider regarding external reputation management.
