- The free plan never expires: you import everything and see your gains without paying. You only pay to download a year's report.
- If you exceed your transactions, you pay the difference to the next plan.
- It accepts cards and crypto.
What users say
It scores 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot, from 2,362 reviews. Our review analysis above breaks it down.
- The best: how easy it is if your activity is simple, and the time saved.
- The worst: with DeFi or many exchanges, balances and calculations that do not add up and a lot of manual work; and in 2026, slow support with a chatbot in front.
- Beware of scammers posing as "Blockchain" support who ask you to log into Koinly with details they give you.
For prop firms
Koinly is not for declaring prop firm payouts: it is built for buying and selling crypto. If you receive payouts in crypto and then sell or move them, it can calculate those transactions. To declare the payout itself, talk to a tax adviser.
Verdict
Koinly is a good option for calculating your crypto taxes, especially because you can see the result for free before paying. With complex DeFi activity, check the result carefully.
Who it is for: anyone buying, selling or staking crypto across several exchanges.
Who it is not for: anyone who only needs to declare prop firm payouts.
What people say about Koinly on Trustpilot
We read 473 of its 2362 reviews (the 200 most recent plus every 1 to 4 star review), on 9 October 2026.
Over 1,000 integrations, reports for several countries, detection of your own transfers and DeFi and NFT support. The weakest part is complex DeFi activity.

★★★★★“Koinly's software is just plain bad when it comes to these types of transactions.”
With simple activity it gets things right. With DeFi, liquidity pools or many exchanges, several users find wrong balances and calculations and have to fix them by hand.

★★★★★“Koinly works reasonably well if your crypto activity is simple”
Calculating is free and you only pay to download the year's report. For heavy traders it is expensive, and some feel the price rises once they connect their exchanges.
Users value how easy it is to connect exchanges and see gains. Criticism: fixing errors takes a lot of manual work, and some could not even log in due to access issues.
It is the most repeated complaint in 2026: an AI chatbot in front and email replies every two or three days. Many older reviews praised support.

★★★★★“customer service is basically non existent. They have an AI chatbot”
It publishes prices and lets you see gains before paying. Six in ten reviews we read arrive through direct links. Scammers pose as support and ask people to log into Koinly.
