Best Prop Firms for Swing Trading in 2026

Discover which prop firms allow holding positions over the weekend and which ones offer dedicated Swing accounts for swing traders.

Best Prop Firms for Swing Trading in 2026

Swing trading and prop firms: a combination that isn't always straightforward

Swing trading is one of the most popular styles among traders looking to capture multi-day or multi-week moves without the pressure of scalping or day trading. But when it comes to funded accounts, this style has a recurring problem: many prop firms require you to close all positions before market close on Friday.

This means that if you trade swing, you need a prop firm that allows you to hold positions over the weekend. And not all of them do — or if they allow it, it comes with conditions you should understand before committing to an account.

In this article, we review the best options for swing traders in 2026, separating those that allow weekend holding without restrictions from those that offer it with limitations.

Why weekend holding matters so much for swing traders

Unlike day trading or scalping, swing trading relies on keeping positions open for several days — sometimes weeks. Classic swing setups aim for 100 to 500 pip captures in forex, or significant moves in indices and commodities.

If your prop firm forces you to close before Friday, you face three problems:

  • You cut trades short — A trade that needs 5 days gets closed on day 3 because Friday arrives
  • You miss opportunities — You can't enter a setup on Thursday because there wouldn't be enough time
  • You distort your strategy — You adapt your system to the prop firm's calendar instead of the market

That's why choosing a firm that respects your trading style isn't a luxury — it's a necessity if you want to trade consistently.

Prop firms that allow weekend holding without restrictions

These firms let you keep positions open over the weekend without any additional limitations. You can swing trade exactly as you would on a personal account.

The5ers

The5ers allows weekend holding across all their programs with no restrictions. With a profit split that scales from 50% to 80% (and up to 100% at advanced levels), it's a solid option for swing traders.

Their High Stakes program offers accounts up to $100,000 with 80-100% profit split. Drawdown is calculated on the highest end-of-day balance (high-watermark), which gives your positions room to breathe over the weekend without an adverse gap eliminating you immediately.

FundedNext

FundedNext also allows weekend holding across all their plans. With profit splits from 80% to 95% and accounts up to $300,000 in maximum allocation, it's one of the most competitive options on the market.

Daily drawdown is balance-based and total drawdown is static, meaning you know exactly how much you can lose from the start. For a swing trader, this is essential because you can calculate your risk per trade knowing the limit won't move against you.

City Traders Imperium

City Traders Imperium allows weekend holding with no additional conditions. Their profit split starts at 80% and can rise to 100% at Silver level.

They offer accounts up to $200,000 with 1-Step, 2-Step, and Instant options. Total drawdown is static on their 1-Step program and trailing on 2-Step and Instant, so choose your evaluation type based on your risk tolerance.

Darwinex Zero

Darwinex Zero is a different option from the rest. Their model is based on managing real capital through DARWIN strategies, with allocations up to $500,000. Weekend holding is allowed without restrictions.

It's ideal for swing traders looking for a more professional relationship with capital management, as the model resembles an investment fund more than a traditional evaluation.

BrightFunded

BrightFunded offers accounts up to $400,000 in maximum allocation with weekend holding allowed. The base profit split is 80%, with the possibility of upgrading to 90% or 100% through add-ons.

Their daily drawdown uses the EOD high-watermark method and total drawdown is static — a combination that works well for swing trading because it doesn't penalize intraday fluctuations over the weekend.

Other firms with unrestricted weekend holding

These firms also allow weekend holding without restrictions:

Prop firms with dedicated swing trading accounts

Some firms go a step further and offer plans specifically designed for swing traders, with rules adapted to this style.

FTMO — Swing Account

FTMO is probably the most well-known prop firm on the market, and it offers a specific account type called Swing that deserves attention.

On their Standard accounts, FTMO does not allow weekend holding during the funded phase — you must close before market close or if the rollover exceeds 2 hours. But on the Swing account, all those restrictions disappear.

The main difference is leverage, which is significantly reduced:

Asset Standard Swing
Forex 100:1 30:1
Metals 30:1 9:1
Indices 50:1 15:1
Crypto/Stocks 3.33:1 1:1

The profit split is 80% (90% after the first scaling). If your strategy doesn't depend on high leverage, FTMO's Swing account is a very solid option backed by an established firm.

Alpha Capital Group — Alpha Swing

Alpha Capital Group offers their Alpha Swing plan with reduced leverage compared to the Pro plan:

  • Forex: 30:1 (vs 100:1 on Pro)
  • Metals: 9:1 (vs 30:1)
  • Indices: 10:1 (vs 20:1)

An important detail: on the Pro plan, weekend holding is not allowed during the funded phase. If you want to swing trade with Alpha, you need to specifically choose the Swing plan.

The profit split is 80% with accounts up to $400,000 in maximum allocation. Total drawdown is static, which benefits the swing trader.

Fintokei — ProTrader Swing

Fintokei offers a specific plan called ProTrader Swing separate from their standard ProTrader. Accounts go up to $400,000 and daily drawdown is balance-based (unlike the equity-based drawdown on the regular ProTrader).

Profit split ranges from 50% to 100% depending on the program (SwiftTrader offers 100% directly). Weekend holding is allowed without restrictions.

Trade The Pool — Swing with stocks

Trade The Pool is a unique option: it focuses on stocks and ETFs, with no leverage. It's designed for swing trading with accounts up to $200,000.

It allows weekend holding, although it has volume restrictions. If your strategy is swing trading stocks (not forex), it's one of the few specialized options available.

Prop firms with conditional weekend holding

These firms allow weekend holding, but with conditions you should evaluate before choosing them.

Funded Trading Plus

Funded Trading Plus has a split policy:

  • 1-Step Express and 2-Step Classic: Weekend holding allowed without issues
  • Instant Program: Not allowed. All trades must be closed before 4:30pm EST on Friday. Positions left open are automatically closed

If you choose Funded Trading Plus for swing trading, make sure you don't opt for their Instant program.

Lark and MentFunding — Paid add-ons

Both Lark and MentFunding allow weekend holding, but require purchasing an add-on that increases the account price by 10%. It's an additional cost you should factor into your profitability calculations.

InstantFunding

InstantFunding has a complex policy that varies by program:

  • IF Micro, Two Phase Max, IF1: Weekend holding allowed without restrictions
  • One Phase, Two Phase: Allowed during evaluation, funded phase requires add-on
  • Instant Funding: Only with add-on

E8

E8 allows weekend holding with limitations. Check the specific terms of your account before relying on being able to hold positions over the weekend.

Futures firms: almost all prohibit weekend holding

If you trade futures, the options for swing trading are much more limited. Most futures prop firms don't allow weekend holding:

The exception is TradeDay, which allows both overnight and weekend holding in futures.

This makes sense because futures operate with tighter margins and weekend gaps can generate losses that exceed the allowed drawdown. If you trade futures and want to swing trade, TradeDay is practically your only option among the major firms.

How to choose the best prop firm for swing trading

Beyond whether they allow weekend holding, there are several factors a swing trader should evaluate:

Drawdown type

  • Static drawdown: Your maximum loss limit doesn't change. If you start with $100,000 and a 10% drawdown, you can always drop to $90,000. This is ideal for swing trading because you can calculate your risk precisely
  • Trailing drawdown: The limit rises as your account grows. An adverse weekend gap could bring your balance close to the new drawdown limit. More dangerous for swing

Leverage

Specific Swing accounts (FTMO, Alpha, Fintokei) reduce leverage. This makes sense: with positions open over the weekend, high leverage multiplies gap risk. If your swing strategy doesn't need high leverage, these accounts are the safest option.

Profit split and scalability

For swing trading, where trade frequency is lower, each trade matters more. A high profit split (80%+) makes a significant difference when you're making 10-20 trades per month instead of 50-100.

News trading restrictions

Many swing traders hold positions through major economic events. Verify that your prop firm doesn't have news trading restrictions that force you to close before releases like NFP or interest rate decisions.

What you should remember

Swing trading on funded accounts is perfectly viable in 2026 — as long as you choose the right prop firm. Most forex prop firms now allow weekend holding, but conditions vary enormously.

If you're looking for the safest option, choose a firm with a dedicated Swing account (FTMO, Alpha, or Fintokei) that already has leverage adjusted for weekend risk. If you prefer flexibility without sacrificing leverage, firms like The5ers, FundedNext, or City Traders Imperium allow weekend holding on their regular accounts.

And if you trade futures, your options shrink dramatically — TradeDay is the clearest alternative.

The key is to verify the specific rules of the program you choose, because even within the same firm, policies can change depending on the account type. Check our complete firms listing to explore all available options.
