Time limits
You are never truly free from the clock at either firm. While they lack a maximum deadline to pass evaluations, they impose "inactivity" traps:
- Atlas Funded will close your account if you fail to open a trade at least every 30 days (except on Instant Zero).
- Funded Elite is even tighter, imposing a 29-day inactivity limit.
- Minimum hurdles: At Atlas, you cannot just reach the target; you are forced to trade for at least 3 days in evaluation and 5 days per funded cycle. Furthermore, on standard plans, a "profitable day" only counts if you close at least +0.5% or +1% in profit, effectively ignoring smaller winning days.
- Funded Elite also blocks quick progress by requiring 3 profitable days in evaluation and a complex "5 profitable days" ladder for its Catalyst plan, where you must exceed specific dollar thresholds per level.
Weekends and news
Market volatility is off-limits during key moments, especially at Atlas:
- Atlas Funded prohibits you from keeping profits made during high-impact news on funded accounts. Any trade opened or closed within a 5-minute window before or after the announcement is subject to profit deduction.
- Funded Elite is more permissive with news but restricts the very nature of the trade: you cannot hold positions over the weekend unless you pay extra for an add-on or obtain a specific reward card.
- Scalping barriers: At Atlas, you cannot keep profits from trades lasting less than 3 minutes. Funded Elite also limits you to this 3-minute rule unless you purchase a specific "Scalping add-on" to lower the limit to 30 seconds.
Where you can trade from
Your physical location and how you connect are strictly monitored:
- Atlas Funded does not explicitly list banned countries in the provided data, but it prohibits using a VPN to conceal your identity or location. You are barred from trading from locations inconsistent with your registration without prior notice.
- Funded Elite has a long list of excluded territories. You cannot trade with them if you are a resident of the United States, Canada, Iran, Iraq, Cuba, North Korea, Israel, Syria, or Palestine. Like Atlas, using a VPN requires advance notification.
What the platform limits
The technical environment dictates what strategies are "illegal":
- No Automation at Funded Elite: You are strictly forbidden from using EAs or any automated trading tools. Only manual trading is allowed, which prevents you from using algorithms to manage risk or execute trades.
- Atlas Funded allows EAs but bans specific logic: you cannot use latency arbitrage, tick arbitrage, or order flooding.
- Asset restrictions: At Atlas, you cannot trade Stocks. At both firms, you are limited to MetaTrader 5 and TradeLocker, with Atlas adding MatchTrader to the mix.
- Risk Management: Funded Elite prevents you from risking more than 50% of your daily loss limit on a single instrument. Atlas Funded imposes the "Atlas Protector," which cuts your profit split to 50% if you hit a 2% floating loss.
What the rules cost you
The cost of entry is merely a limit on how many attempts your budget can survive, and the payout rules limit your liquidity:
- Drawdown traps: At Atlas, the "Access" plan uses a trailing equity drawdown, meaning your "floor" rises with your floating profits, giving you less room to breathe during pullbacks. Funded Elite's "Instant" and "Catalyst" plans also use trailing drawdown, which never "locks" at the starting balance.
- Withdrawal caps: At Atlas, Daily plans limit your first three payouts to just 2% of the starting balance. Funded Elite limits crypto withdrawals to a maximum of $500.
- Payout delays: You cannot access your money immediately. Atlas usually requires 14 to 28 days for the first payout. Funded Elite allows you to choose shorter cycles (3 or 7 days), but only if you pay for that privilege at checkout.
Restrictions that add up
The true weight of these firms is felt when restrictions overlap. At Atlas Funded, the combination of a 3-minute minimum trade duration, the prohibition of news trading, and the requirement that a "profitable day" must reach +0.5% creates a high-pressure environment. You are forced to stay in trades longer than you might want, avoid the most liquid market times, and take higher risks just to make a day "count."
At Funded Elite, the ban on EAs combined with the 50% risk-per-instrument rule and the trailing drawdown on instant accounts forces a very specific, manual, and fragmented trading style. You cannot use software to protect your capital, you cannot "bet big" on your best setup, and your available loss margin is constantly shrinking as your account grows, making it mathematically harder to sustain the account over time.
