How you lose the account
Losing an account in these two firms depends on different operational triggers. In Fundex, the risk is concentrated in the evaluation phases and the transition between execution models. You lose the account if you hit the daily or maximum loss limits, but also if you repeatedly violate the 3-minute minimum holding time in the Classic and 1-Step models. Once funded, Fundex uses a "B-Book switch" system; four consecutive unrecovered switches or a 10% decline from the original balance while in B-Book results in a permanent breach.
In Hola Prime, the risk is more traditional but stricter regarding inactivity and mandatory tools. You lose the account if you hit the loss limits, but also if you remain inactive for 30 consecutive days without opening a trade. Furthermore, failing to use a Stop Loss (SL) on funded or Direct accounts is considered a "hard breach" due to unlimited risk exposure. In the "Pro" and "Direct" models, executing trades during high-impact news also leads to profit removal or account termination.
Maximum drawdown
The maximum drawdown represents the ultimate "catastrophe" limit for the trader.
- Fundex: Uses a static maximum drawdown. In the 2-Step Classic, it is 10% of the starting balance, measured on equity. This means the limit never moves, providing a fixed buffer.
- Hola Prime: The calculation depends on the account type. In Pro and Prime challenges, it is a static floor based on the initial balance, monitored against floating equity. However, in Direct accounts (Instant Funding), it is a trailing drawdown that follows the highest end-of-day balance until it reaches the starting balance, where it locks.
Numerical Example Fundex: On a $100,000 2-Step Classic account, your maximum drawdown is 10% ($10,000). Your account is lost if your equity drops to $90,000 at any time. This floor remains at $90,000 even if your balance grows to $110,000.
Numerical Example Hola Prime: On a $100,000 Direct account, the drawdown is 7% ($7,000). If your balance reaches $105,000 at the end of the day, your new loss floor rises to $98,000. If you then lose money and your equity hits $98,000, you lose the account.
Daily drawdown
This is the most sensitive rule because it resets every 24 hours.
- Fundex: The daily loss limit is only active during the evaluation phase. It is recalculated at 00:00 UTC based on the balance at that moment and measured against equity (including open positions). Once funded, there is no daily loss limit.
- Hola Prime: The limit is active in all stages. It is calculated from the previous day's closing balance (17:00 EST) and includes both realized and floating results. Breaching it is always a hard breach.
Rules beyond drawdown
Both firms impose limits to control "toxic" or gambling behavior:
- Stop Loss: Mandatory in Hola Prime (funded/Direct); not required in Fundex.
- Position Risk: Fundex limits risk to 3% of the balance per trade during evaluation. Hola Prime limits risk to 2% of the initial balance per "idea" (combined overlapping positions) in funded stages.
- Consistency: Fundex does not published a specific consistency percentage. Hola Prime requires that the best trading day does not exceed 40% of the total profit in On-demand accounts (or 20% in Direct).
- Minimum Holding Time: Fundex requires 3 minutes per trade in Classic evaluations. Hola Prime has no minimum time but requires 3 profitable days (0.5% gain each) to request a biweekly payout.
Risk that comes from the setup
The technology used affects execution risk (slippage and delays).
- Fundex: Operates via a "Proprietary Platform" (Fundex Terminal). While it offers specific crypto instruments via Bitunix, using a proprietary terminal means the trader is entirely dependent on the firm's own technical stability and price feed.
- Hola Prime: Offers a variety of third-party platforms including MetaTrader 5, cTrader, MatchTrader, and TradeLocker. This allows the trader to choose an environment they trust, although MetaTrader 5 is the only one that allows EAs (with a 10% extra fee).
What is at stake and what you recover
The initial "risk" is the fee paid for the challenge.
- Fundex: Fees are strictly non-refundable once the account is accessed. There is no refund of the initial cost even after reaching the funded stage.
- Hola Prime: Fees for Pro and Prime accounts are 100% refundable, but only with the fourth successful payout. Direct accounts are non-refundable. Additionally, Hola Prime charges a 2.5% fee per payout (minimum $25 for bank/Rise, $5 for crypto).
