Build Alpha review
Build Alpha is a program for building trading strategies without coding: you choose markets and rules, the program generates and tests thousands of combinations, helps you validate the ones that look robust and exports code ready for your platform. It was created by David Bergstrom, who worked as a market maker and quantitative strategy developer.
We read its official website. It has no Trustpilot page, so there are no reviews to analyse.
What it offers
- A strategy builder without coding, with historical data included.
- Validation and testing at portfolio level.
- Alternative datasets and automated workflows.
- Unlimited code exports to TradeStation, NinjaTrader, MetaTrader 4 and 5, MultiCharts, TradingView, Interactive Brokers and Python, among others.
- Video training, a strategy starter pack and community access.
It is an official NinjaTrader ecosystem vendor and has agreements with TradeStation and MultiCharts.
Price
Its website says the program is yours for life (one-off payment), but does not show the price: you have to ask. Older external sources mention around $1,500, but we could not confirm it.
The risk: overfitting
As with any strategy generator, there will always be combinations that would have won in the past. The hard part is knowing which have a real edge. Build Alpha includes validation tools for that, but they require judgement.
For prop firms
- Many firms limit automation: in our profiles, 21 of 85 forbid it and 18 limit it.
- Many only allow your own strategies and forbid purchased ones. Check whether your firm considers a strategy generated with this tool your own, and do not use the starter strategies, which are not yours.
Its advantage over similar tools: it exports to NinjaTrader and TradingView, which many futures prop firms use.
Verdict
Build Alpha is a serious tool for building strategies without coding, with export to more platforms than most, including futures ones. But it does not publish its price or have public reviews, and it requires learning to validate strategies.
Who it is for: futures traders who want to develop their own automated strategies for NinjaTrader or TradingView.
Who it is not for: anyone looking for quick results or trading at firms that forbid automation.
