What you are signing up for
A prop firm evaluation is a test where you trade with simulated capital to prove you are profitable. If you pass, the firm allows you to trade their funds and keep a share of the profits.
- Crypto Fund Trader offers a 10,000 USD account for 80 USD in its 1-Phase model. You connect your own Bybit account via an API key, which is a technical bridge that lets the firm track your trades on a real exchange interface.
- Iceberg offers a 10,000 USD account for 92 USD in its "Unlimited" model. You trade on their own proprietary platform, which is a custom software built by the firm specifically for their users.
Neither firm offers a refund of the entry fee if you fail or pass.
How hard each one is
The difficulty is defined by two main numbers: the profit target and the drawdown. The profit target is the amount of simulated money you must earn to pass the test. The drawdown is the maximum loss you are allowed to hit before your account is closed.
- In their 1-step evaluations, both firms set a 10% profit target.
- Crypto Fund Trader uses a "trailing drawdown" of 6%. This means your loss limit follows your highest recorded balance. If you make profit, your "floor" moves up, giving you less room to breathe if you then have a losing streak.
- Iceberg uses a "static drawdown" of 6%. This means your loss floor never moves; it stays fixed based on your starting capital, which is generally easier for a beginner to manage.
How long it takes
Both firms have removed the "maximum trading days" limit, meaning you can take months or even years to reach your goal.
There are also no "minimum trading days" to pass. This means that if you hit your 10% target in a single day, you can move to the funded stage immediately. However, Crypto Fund Trader requires you to wait 15 days of active trading before you can request your first payout once you are funded. Iceberg allows payouts on demand for its Unlimited accounts with no waiting period.
Where beginners fail
Most beginners fail because they violate risk rules they don't fully understand.
- The Consistency Rule: In Crypto Fund Trader's "Break" accounts, no single day can represent more than 40% of your total profit. This prevents "gambling" on a single lucky trade.
- API Connection: In Crypto Fund Trader, if you accidentally disconnect your Bybit API or add personal funds to the subaccount, you lose the challenge.
- The Free Trial: Iceberg offers a 5,000 USD free demo. This is a practice account with no cost that allows you to learn the platform before spending money. Crypto Fund Trader does not offer a free trial.
What happens if you make it
If you pass the evaluation, you receive a "Profit Split," which is your percentage of the earnings.
- Crypto Fund Trader gives you 80% of the profits. You can increase this to 90% by paying an extra "add-on" fee when you buy the challenge.
- Iceberg also gives you 80% of the profits.
Payouts are the process of withdrawing your earnings. Both firms primarily use Crypto (USDC or other tokens) to pay their traders, ensuring fast transfers across borders.
If it is your first time
If you have never traded in a prop firm environment, Iceberg is the more forgiving choice. The static drawdown is much simpler to track than a trailing one, and the free 5,000 USD demo allows you to make mistakes without financial consequences.
Crypto Fund Trader is better if you already know how to use Bybit and want the cheapest possible entry point, as their 10,000 USD account is slightly more affordable than Iceberg's.
