Day one
The entry experience differs significantly in terms of costs and technical flexibility. Goat Funded Trader offers a wider range of platforms, including MetaTrader 5, cTrader, MatchTrader, TradeLocker, and Volumetrica. Top Trader Prime, conversely, operates exclusively on its own Proprietary Platform.
In terms of pricing, Goat Funded Trader is more accessible for beginners, offering a $5,000 2-step account for as little as $20. For a standard $100,000 2-step challenge, GFT charges $497 (Goat) or $697 (Premium), while Top Trader Prime prices its $100K 2-step challenge at €450. TTP provides a 10K Free Trial (8% target), which GFT lacks.
Entrance rules are stricter at TTP. From the first trade, TTP requires a mandatory Stop Loss on every operation (unless a +30% price add-on is purchased). GFT does not require a Stop Loss but introduces the "Goat Guard," which automatically closes trades if a 2% account loss is reached.
The first months
Once funded, the focus shifts to risk management and the first payouts. Goat Funded Trader implements a minimum holding time of 1 to 2 minutes for trades on funded accounts; profits from shorter trades are removed. Top Trader Prime defines scalping as any trade under 100 seconds or 1.5 pips, which can lead to account suspension if repeated.
Risk limits during these months are specific:
- Goat Funded Trader: Uses an EOD (End of Day) high-watermark for daily drawdown in most models. It also features a "Maximum Daily Profit" cap of $3,000.
- Top Trader Prime: Implements a strict 2% maximum loss and 3% maximum profit limit per individual trade. Additionally, it enforces a consistency rule where no single trade can exceed 25% of the total profit when requesting a payout.
Payout frequency favors GFT for those seeking speed. GFT offers biweekly payouts, with options for "On Demand" via add-ons or even daily payouts in their "Instant Daily" model. TTP follows a 14-day cycle, and the first payout for instant accounts requires at least 20 days of trading.
The first year
For traders reaching the one-year mark, Goat Funded Trader offers a transparent, four-level scaling plan based on performance and consistency:
- Level 1 (2 months + 4 payouts): 15% capital boost, 90% profit split, and +1% to drawdown limits.
- Level 2 (4 months + 6 payouts): 30% capital boost, 90% split, +2% to drawdown limits, and weekly payouts.
- Level 3 (5 months + 10 payouts): 40% capital boost, 92% split, +3% to drawdown limits, weekly payouts, and a monthly salary ($300-$500).
- Level 4 (6 months + 15 payouts): 50% capital boost, 95% split, +4% to drawdown limits, and a monthly salary.
Top Trader Prime handles scaling differently. There is no automated ladder; instead, scaling is "case by case" upon request through the dashboard. The firm evaluates consistency and rule compliance manually to decide on capital increases.
The ceiling
The ultimate capital limit is where Top Trader Prime takes the lead. TTP allows for a maximum allocation of $1,000,000 per account and a staggering $3,000,000 combined across multiple accounts.
Goat Funded Trader has a lower ceiling of $400,000 per trader. However, GFT allows for more account flexibility, supporting the merging of eligible accounts (except the Instant Daily model). GFT also offers a "GOAT Points Program" where traders earn 1 point for every $1 spent, which can be redeemed for free accounts or account size boosts, adding a secondary layer of growth independent of the standard scaling plan.
Room to grow
Goat Funded Trader provides a more predictable and rewarding path for the "career trader" through its defined salary levels and profit split reaching 95%. It is built for those who want clear milestones and platform variety.
Top Trader Prime is suited for high-volume traders who can navigate strict per-trade risk limits and a proprietary platform in exchange for access to up to $3 million in capital. While GFT rewards loyalty with structured perks, TTP offers a much higher raw capital ceiling for those who pass their manual reviews.
