FX Replay review

Researched and written by TheGodFunded3 min read

FX Replay is a website for practising on past data as if it were live: you pick a pair and a date, the chart hides everything after it and you move forward candle by candle, opening and closing trades. At the end it gives you statistics on how you would have done. The charts are TradingView's, so it works the same way.

We read its entire help center (111 articles), its pricing page and 272 of its 650 Trustpilot reviews.

What it offers

  • Market replay candle by candle, with jumps to any date and several charts and timeframes at once.
  • Prop firm simulator: you set your challenge's target, maximum daily loss and total loss, and it shows how you are doing. In this mode you cannot go back, to keep it as close to a real challenge as possible. If you pass, you get a certificate.
  • Statistics by session, day and hour, with a Monte Carlo simulator (how your strategy could go over 100, 200 or 300 trades) and a risk-reward simulator.
  • Configurable commissions and spreads, so results do not look better than reality.
  • An economic calendar with past news.
  • A journal for real trades, syncing with MetaTrader 4 and 5, cTrader and TradeLocker, or importing files from Tradovate and NinjaTrader.
  • FXR Script, its own language for building indicators, and an AI that reviews your trades.

It runs in the browser. Its support recommends using it on a computer: the mobile version does not work well yet.

The data

  • Forex from Dukascopy and OANDA, from 2003 or 2016 depending on the pair.
  • Futures from the CME (S&P 500, Nasdaq, Dow, Russell and crude oil) since 2012, Pro plan only.
  • Crypto from Kaiko.
  • 1-minute candles on everything, and seconds only on Pro.

Note: in forex every broker has slightly different prices, so on short timeframes the chart may not match your firm's. Several scalpers complain about this.

Prices

What users say

It scores 4.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot, from 650 reviews. Our review analysis above breaks it down.

  • The best: it feels like TradingView, the free plan and the statistics.
  • The worst, and long-standing: slowness, frozen charts and candles that do not load. The complaints start in 2023 and continue in 2026.
  • Billing: several users say they were charged after cancelling.
  • Watch the score: 2026 has brought 142 five-star reviews, many one line long and by company invitation.

How to use it well

  1. Start on the free plan and check it runs smoothly on your computer.
  2. If you trade futures, you need Pro. The other plans do not include them.
  3. Enter your firm's commissions and spread when creating each session.
  4. Use the prop firm simulator with your challenge's exact rules before paying for it.
  5. Cancel the trial in time and keep the confirmation email.

Verdict

FX Replay is one of the best-known manual backtesting tools among prop firm traders, and for good reason: it is easy, has a genuinely free plan and a challenge simulator few others offer. Its big drawback is stability, with complaints going back years, and futures only come on the most expensive plan.

Who it is for: forex traders who want to practise their strategy and prepare for a challenge, starting for free.

Who it is not for: scalpers on 1-minute charts who need the same prices as their broker, or futures traders who do not want to pay $35 a month.

Review analysis

What people say about FX Replay on Trustpilot

We read 272 of its 650 reviews (the 200 most recent plus every 1 to 4 star review), on 9 October 2026.

4.2 Trustpilot score
3.6 Based on what they say
Features 4.0

Market replay, prop firm simulator, stats, Monte Carlo, journal and economic calendar. Its own indicator language, FXR Script, still feels early, and some miss more crypto and stocks.

See review
★★★★★“I tried to translate the indicator of Pine to the FR Script, but it is a complete mess.”
Reliability 2.8

It is the big complaint, going back to 2023: charts that freeze, candles that do not load, pages that need refreshing and stops that do not trigger. In 2026 several users say each update makes it slower.

See 2 reviews
★★★★★“They somehow manage to make it worse after each update.”
★★★★★“The overall analytics and data that you can get from it are great. But it is so laggy and buggy.”
Value for money 3.3

The free plan is well liked. Complaints are about billing: renewals after cancelling, a trial that was charged and a no-refund policy, except billing errors or long outages.

See review
★★★★★“I made sure i cancelled it and it still charged me.”
Ease of use 4.2

The charts are TradingView's, so they feel familiar from day one. Users praise how easy it is to step candle by candle, skip weekends and open several charts.

See review
★★★★★“For once a good user interface, with Trading View look and feel, access to years of historical data”
Support 3.6

Many five-star reviews name the agent who solved something within hours. Negative ones mention a bot that repeats itself and generic fixes like clearing the cache.

See review
★★★★★“its just some ai bot writing the same over and over again”
Transparency 3.5

It publishes prices, data sources (Dukascopy, OANDA, CME and Kaiko) and its company in Oklahoma. But in 2026 many short five-star reviews arrive by invitation, lifting the score.

What people like

  • TradingView charts, easy from day one
  • A genuinely free plan
  • Prop firm simulator
  • Very complete statistics

What people criticise

  • Slowness and freezes
